Summary of the work Bespoke Python tools to aid development and production of configuration data and code to feed into other applications in the BPS API space Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 3 months with an optional 1 month extension Latest start date Tuesday 3 January 2023 Maximum Day Rate Up to £750 ex VAT per day. Standard 8 hour working day, includes expenses to base location agreed with DWP . This role is Inside IR35 Who Speclialist Work With The resource will work with the existing DWP BPS API Team. - Lead Software Engineer /Technical Lead - Senior Delivery Manager - 3 Senior Developers - 4 Apprentices - 2 Technical Testers What Specialists Work On Python developer responsible for the bespoke tooling development work for the BPS API Service, specifically the bespoke tools needed to generate configuration data (from files, databases and host structure files) to feed into other visual tools to aid requirement definition production. WIll also provide support, technical guidance and help to implement development best practices. This will include coaching, mentoring and supporting team members. Skills & Experience • Have a minimum of 3 years experience in the following : • Developing bespoke tooling in Python • Processing XML in Python • Producing JSON in Python • Using and generating metadata • Demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills • Demonstrate experience of Agile working practices Nice to Haves • Demonstrate experience of MicroFocus COBOL • Demonstrate experience of SQL Work Location DWP Digital Corporate Hubs : Peel Park Blackpool, or Benton Park View, Newcastle. Working Arrangments Specialist will work 5 working days per week. The specialist will be expected to attend site 40% of their working time in line with DWP's Hybrid working policy working remotely for the remainder of their time. Days of attendance on site will be as determined by DWP management. The specialist will be required to be online between the hours of 8:00AM - 17:00PM Monday to Friday Security Clearance Candidate must have current Security Check Government cleared and be On-Shore. Current means that the candidate must have been in a role working for a Government Department where SC was required within the last 12 months . DWP is unable to transfer SC clearance gained from any non-Government body. Is there a current incumbent for this role? No 2. DWP recently cancelled a similar Python Developer specialist role advertised on the digital marketplace. I’m not sure why they did why you canceled the earlier advertisement and readvertised it. We cancelled it because we weren't certain whether or not we were going ahead with it. Also due to issues we'd had around the issue of Security Clearance we needed to amend the requirement
