Tender description
Autumn Term The principle purpose of these contracts are to help young people overcome barriers and develop the personal and employment skills that will support them in moving into, or sustaining, education, employment or training outcomes. This will offer a different and bespoke option for young people Post 16. It will be a stepping stone programme that will provide an alternative range of ongoing transition routes into education, employment or training as and when the young person is ready. The programme will build on the ethos of collaborative partnership delivery that enables bespoke solutions to each young person, building on their strengths and putting them firmly at the centre of their future. The provision provided will be at different education levels to reflect the varied profiles of our NEET young people. To provide Online English and Maths teaching and support which would prepare young people for Functional Skills and where appropriate English and Maths GCSE. This will be provided online in groups as timetabled by SS&L in discussion with SomersetWorks. There will be AM and PM sessions as agreed in English and Maths. Numbers dependant on size of groups but based on 6 -8 in a group. There is also the facility for some limited one-to-one sessions at the start of each day , as appropriate and as agreed with SomersetWorks. A referral form will be completed for each young person which will be submitted to Somerset Skills and Learning with an agreement in place for each referral as to the expected attendance and engagement required for the placement to be maintained. There could be the opportunity where appropriate for some face to face learning in groups to take place in SSS and L centres s agreed with all parties. • All sessions to be taught online, via Zoom (unless agreed otherwise between the learner and student and an alternative platform used) • Hourly sessions based on maths or English • Students are to complete a BKSB Initial and Diagnostic Assessment, to help establish ability and gaps in learning. • Sessions follow a structured approach to help the student identify the aims and objectives in their learning. • Review of ability/understanding of the topic to be completed before and after each session by the student • Online learning involves; guided, relevant material; interactive activities; group activities; open and closed questioning; verbal and written feedback from both the tutor and the student; tasks set to the correct level to improve the learner's confidence and ability; monthly reviews of their learning. • Use of online tools to include a range of learning techniques and preferences • resources for the students to access and amend • Weekly updates to Somerset Works regarding attendance and any other issues/successes • Reminders sent to students before sessions • Alternative sessions arranged if required
