Queen’s Market In March 2019, Denbighshire County Council acquired a number of adjacent buildings in Rhyl town centre fronting onto the seafront promenade, known collectively as Queen’s Buildings. We have developed ambitious plans for the mixed use redevelopment of the site. The redevelopment will not only remove a significant eyesore, but it will also act as a key connector providing better access and movement between the waterfront and the town centre. It has been described as a key catalyst of the regeneration and future economic success of Rhyl town centre. A microsite has been created solely for Rhyl Regeneration where further information can be found. https://www.denbighshire.gov.uk/rhyl-regeneration The Queen’s Market has been the centrepiece to the town of Rhyl since 1902. Providing a variety of uses, from indoor skating rink, theatre performances and retail opportunities, the building has a sentimental status which is to be enhanced through the redevelopment of the site. In terms of the property we are seeking an operator for, the building that will be constructed consists of three main elements – the market hall, a flexible events space and a central core between these two elements providing toilets and a bar that can serve both areas. In addition, the existing red brick entrance from Sussex Street (town centre – prime retail area) will be retained, refurbished and reoccupied. The operator will also be responsible for the management of the associated external landscaped areas, which provides an additional area for seasonal market stalls and events, as well as seating for those purchasing food in the market. The Council will be looking to offer a 12 month rent free period initially to help aid the establishment of the new business venture.
