<p>Building Control regulates the built environment for the protection of the public through the implementation and enforcement of Building Regulations and other legislation. Plans are checked for compliance with Building Regulations, and associated legislation. Site visits are carried out during construction to ensure compliance. In order for CBC to carry out these functions and also to ensure it is in conformity with its ISO 9001 Quality Management accreditation, CBC require an up-to-date online library of construction and building standards, codes and technical information to ensure it is enforcing to the correct and latest standards. This information must be guaranteed to be timely and accurate. It must be easily searchable and portable so it can be accessed remotely i.e. from a surveyor’s phone or tablet whilst on an active construction site, and from experience an online portal has been found to be the best system meeting all of these requirements for the service.</p> Keywords: Technical, Library, British Standards, Codes, Construction
