Non Halon HHFE

Tender description

The Authority intend to engage industry to procure complete non-ferrous 5BC non-halon handheld fire extinguishers. The extinguishers should be adjustable to fit a maximum circumference of 285mm and no greater than 350mm in height. Additionally, the extinguisher should be operated single handed to prevent inadvertent release of the bottle from an inverted position. Companies who provide this equipment should hold or are willing to obtain Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) /European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approval for use in aircraft cabins which could be utilised on Ministry of Defence fixed and rotary wing aircraft. The Authority also intends to engage industry to procure non-ferrous HandHeld Fire Extinguisher (HHFE) brackets from a company which holds or is in the process of attaining FAA/EASA approval, and can utilise current mounting configurations on Ministry of Defence aircraft frame? This capability must be in line with Defence Standard 00-970 Part 13 which states that the extinguisher including bracket must comply with British Standard EN3 Parts 7-10, British Standard 7863 and 7867. The bracket dimensions should be no greater than that required to fit the extinguisher dimensions above and maximum protrusion of 110mm from the bracket mount.
