Provision of a Small Settlements Active Travel Masterplan

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council (“the Council”) recognises the importance of enabling active travel throughout the borough through the provision of infrastructure. Under the Local Development Plan the Council sets out a vision to be ‘a place of choice to live, work and visit, with a vibrant and sustainable economy supported by a healthy and connected community’. There is a recognised need to make our towns and rural areas more accessible by providing the appropriate standard and level of infrastructure that will promote and encourage active travel. The objective of this commission is to undertake an Active Travel Masterplan to provide a strategic review of existing active travel infrastructure provision and to identification and detail short, medium and long term interventions that provide the best opportunities to deliver substantial positive benefits to the communities within and visitors to the smaller settlements. Armagh City Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council therefore wish to appoint suitably qualified and experienced consultants to prepare an Active Travel Masterplan looking at all aspects of active travel and related initiatives for the identified eligible small settlements with a population of 1,000 – 4,999.
