Longford County Council seek the support of a suitably qualified service provider to work with Longford Comhairle na nOg

Comhairle na nÓg was established as the permanent structure representing young people’s voices in Ireland in response to our commitment to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Comhairle na nÓg is established in each Local Authority area to provide a forum for young people to discuss local and national issues of relevance to them. Delegates from Comhairle na nÓg represent their local area at the National Dáil na nÓg. To date the work of Longford Comhairle na nÓg has been very positive. It is recognised that there is scope to develop the work, particularly in relation to representation from hard to reach young people and in enhancing the impact of Comhairle na nÓg in local policy making. Comhairle na nÓg provides an independent voice for young people within local democratic structures and provides young people with an opportunity to influence policy in a very meaningful way. Longford County Council wishes to put in place dedicated professional support from a recognised youth organisation to ensure the continued development of Comhairle na nÓg.
