Fraserburgh Primary School New Build – End-RIBA Stage 2 Contractor Engagement Workshops

Aberdeenshire Council Property & Facilities Management team wish to conduct a series of end-RIBA Stage 2 engagement workshops with potential main contractors for their new build Fraserburgh Primary School during week-commencing 31st October 2022. Potential contractors should have experience in Single- and Two-Stage Traditional and Design & Build contract types, the Passivhaus Building System and Educational buildings with a contract value of GBP 15M-plus. Please do not register interest if your company does not meet the criteria above – this workshop and the building project itself is only suitable for Tier 1 main contractors. If invited, contractors will be sent an agenda for the two-hour workshop and detailed end-RIBA Stage 2 pack in advance. This pack will include Architectural information – plan, section and elevation drawings, as well as sketch details and an outline specification – and preliminary Structural and MEP design information. The purpose of the workshops are to run over material choices and some early interface details to ensure we are on the right track from a constructability and supply chain perspective. The design team have only had limited exposure to Passivhaus, so we wish to mitigate the risk of producing info which does not work. We would also like to hear any general comments from the contractors on the developing designs. The delivery route is currently programmed as a Single Stage Traditional tender which would be released through PCS in February 2024, however, this delivery route is under review and we will be inviting discussion on this at the workshops.
