Executive Search for Lay Members of the University of Strathclyde Court

The court is the governing body of the University, with internal members (staff and students of the University) and external members (lay members) shaping its structure. The institution is influential in the University’s strategy and overseeing the effective management of the University’s reputation, financial stability, employment of staff and the well-being all of all staff and students. The purpose of this tender is to appoint a specialist recruitment agency to work with the University of Strathclyde to assist in sourcing candidates to fill vacancies for lay membership positions in the University Court. The agency may also be required to source candidates for the position of Convener of Court. The Convener of Court is a non-executive leadership position and is elected by staff from 2 suitably qualified candidates that the agency would be required to provide via a long-list. However, this role is subject to vacancy and confirmation from the University. The purpose of this tender is to appoint a specialist recruitment agency to work with the University of Strathclyde to assist in sourcing candidates to fill vacancies for lay membership positions in the University Court. The agency may also be required to source candidates for the position of Convener of Court. However, this role is subject to vacancy and confirmation from the University. For 2023, it is anticipated there will exist 3 (three) vacancies for co-opted lay members of Court from 1 August 2023. These positions are voluntary, non-executive roles in the University’s governing body. They also incorporate the Trustee role with regard to the University’s status as a registered charity Subject to vacancy, the agency may be required to provide a long-list from which can be selected two or more appointable candidates who are willing to stand for election for the Convenor of Court position. The Convener of Court is a non-executive leadership position. It should be noted the University does not guarantee business under this contract, usage will be subject to vacancies and recruitment requirements. Requirements are likely to vary each year. Recruitment may not be required every year of this contract.
