Exploring and finding solutions to inequalities of public access to coastal “blue” space

Tender description

Marine Scotland wishes to commission a project on behalf of Scottish Ministers to tackle an evidence gap on the topic of inequalities of access to coastal blue space. The project is jointly funded with Crown Estate Scotland (CES) to tackle an evidence gap of interest to both Marine Scotland and CES. The aim of the project is to conduct qualitative research to obtain a better understanding of people’s behaviour in relation to their use of coastal “blue space”. The project objectives are to: Conduct a literature review and deliver an interim report on findings exploring factors affecting access amongst key groups Identify potential data sources that could be used for an indicator that measures “equality of access to blue space” Conduct primary qualitative research using appropriate methods Analyse the findings from the study and present them in a report with recommendations on actions for Marine Scotland, Crown Estate Scotland, the wider Scottish Government and other public sector delivery partners.
