Galway City Council has been successful in securing funding for the development of an Outdoor Museum experience that will tell the story of the Waterways of Galway. The variety of water in Galway City Centre – the rushing river, still and reflective canals, historic mills and locks, and tidal Galway Bay – create a diversity of sights, sounds, smells and textures which enrich Galway’s for visitors and locals alike. The outdoor museum experience should be delivered by the development of outdoor interpretation along the waterways that tells the story of Galway and creates fun and enjoyable walking routes through the city.
