Tender description

The provision of a benchtop NMR spectrometer within the IGC The IGC is located near the Western General Hospital, almost five miles away from the closest NMR facilities. Acquiring a benchtop NMR instrument that is easy to use, requires no/minimal maintenance, no cryogens, and has a small footprint, would be an optimal solution to improve IGC infrastructure without the need to refurbishing or contracting specialised staff. As it will be the first in-house NMR of the IGC, adding NMR capabilities to the institute will provide access to an essential tool for speeding up the drug discovery ambitions of the IGC and the CMVM. Waiting for NMR spectra of an intermediate represents in many occasions as bottleneck to progress a project, causing delays to a planned synthetic route. Access to an on-site Benchtop NMR will allow us to reinvest time recovered from trips to King’s Buildings (at least 2 h per trip) back into research.
