Tender description
The Authority is seeking to appoint a Contractor to conduct a scoping project to assess the availability and quality of data on the locations of chemically contaminated sites and Greenhouse Gas (“GHG”) sinks in Official Development Assistance (“ODA”)-eligible countries in the sub-Saharan Africa (“SSA”) and the Indo-Pacific Region (“IPR”), including quantities of contaminants and stored greenhouse gases present. Aims This Contractor will identify: a. Data available on the locations and spatial extent of chemically contaminated sites within ODA-eligible countries in SSA and IPR, including comparative levels of contamination between sites. b. Data available on locations and spatial extent of GHG sinks in ODA-eligible countries within SSA and IPR, including quantification of GHG storage. c. Assess the possibility of mapping the spatial overlap of chemically contaminated sites and GHG sinks in ODA-eligible countries within SSA and IPR. d. Assess the possibility of modelling the potential quantities of GHGs which could be released at locations where chemically contaminated sites and GHG sinks overlap. e. Identify key data gaps which would need to be filled before the above aims can be fully met. he Contractor must produce the following outputs and deliver these to the Authority in line with the key delivery and milestone dates, as set out within Table 2, submitted by the Contractor as part of the bid: a. A database collating data available on the locations of contaminated sites and GHG sinks in ODA-eligible countries within SSA and IPR, including data on the quantities of contamination present or GHGs stored where available. This is suggested to be in the form of spreadsheets, but the Contractor may suggest alternative formats with justification as part of the bid. b. An accompanying report with an executive summary, describing the database and how it should be used; discussing the quality and reliability of the data; suggested methods
