Kildare Community Biodiversity Project 2022

Tender description

1. Local Biodiversity Action Plans Action 15 of the Kildare Heritage Plan seeks to Support the Preparation of Local Biodiversity Action Plans. In co-operation with Kildare Leader Partnership, Kildare County Council intended to facilitate the development of Local Biodiversity Action Plans for eleven towns and villages in the county. The aim is to promote broad involvement by communities in the process. The strategic plans will identify actions or community projects to be carried out over the next five years to benefit the local community and biodiversity. 2. Development of a Biodiversity Support Network In 2021, 11 towns/villages in County Kildare prepared Local Biodiversity Action Plans. Kildare County Council would like to develop supports to aid a network of local groups implementing LBAPs. The support network development will be through the preparation and delivery of online workshops, remote mentoring, and site visits with Local Implementation Groups. An ecologist will facilitate events to implement actions identified in Local Biodiversity Action Plans. 3. Actions for Biodiversity Training Residents’ Associations are developing an awareness of biodiversity and an interest in biodiversity actions, particularly in public amenity areas within housing estates. This element of the Kildare Biodiversity Project 2022 will provide 5 no. evening seminars (1 no. per MD) of 1 hour and 30 minutes (max) for residence associations on biodiversity conservation and enhancement actions.
