Shannon Erne Lock 16 Design and Supply of New Fixed Walkway

Tender description

Waterways Ireland is seeking the design and supply of a new walkway including frame, handrail, decking, pile plate connections and all other ancillaries required for installation to replace the existing walkway at Lock 16. It is Waterways Ireland aim to widen the walkway to accommodate the principles of Access for All with the hope of gaining a minimum walkway width of between 1.5m - 2m within the constraints of the site. Waterways Ireland preference for the proposed walkway is a steel frame decked with either timber or concrete decking supported on the existing timber piles at approximate 1.8m -1.9m centres along its length (31 piles along each side of the walkway). A handrail will need to be fixed on both sides and located in its entirety within Waterways Irelands land/air ownership. Drawing TS-NSE-AA561-T-01 has been provided for reference at tender stage. It is understood that the timeframes for delivery of the project are tight and delivery is required prior to the end of December 2022.
