Summary of the work To provide specialist skills and oversight across a programme of work to use user centred design to support the National Mental Health team and local services to meet ambitions within the Long Term Plan in improving data sharing within the system and to support the optimisation of Digital Health Technologies Specialist role Designer Expected Contract Length 4 months Latest start date Monday 5 December 2022 Maximum Day Rate £750 Early Market Engagement N/A Who Speclialist Work With You will be working within the Digital Mental Health team within NHSE/I and therefore engaging closely with policy teams, local system representatives and UCD agency teams who are being overseen by the NHSE/I team What Specialists Work On You will be working across a number of priority areas within the Mental Health team, including: data sharing; optimising the use of Digital Health Technologies; embedding UCD methodologies into local transformation; and building skills in inclusive service design locally. Skills & Experience • Have demonstrable experience successfully leading strategic, user-centred design work to understand the end-to-end lived experience of users and the professionals who deliver services work to government service standards • Have demonstrable experience of a wide range of research and design methodologies for designing and delivering effective digital transformation projects which have a diverse mix of users. • Have demonstrable experience of successfully using insights from user research to make recommendations that change the approach of senior level decision makers • Have a deep understanding and previous experience working with NHS services and the challenges faced within the health and care system Nice to Haves • Have demonstrable understanding of when and how to use different types and fidelity of artefacts and prototypes to validate concepts and communicate and get buy-in from a range of stakeholders • Have demonstrable experience of working across multiple projects concurrently while being able to maintain pace, be flexible to changing requirements and prioritising user needs throughout • Have demonstrable experience of working collaboratively with clients who have a low level of technical expertise in UCD • Have a deep understanding and previous experience working with NHS mental health services and the challenges faced specifically within mental health Work Location Remotely or within Wellington House, 133-155 Waterloo Road, London, SE1 8UG Working Arrangments The work will mainly be remote but may require visits to local services and to the NHS England London Office Security Clearance N/A Additional T&Cs N/A No. of Specialists to Evaluate 3 Cultural Fit Criteria • Work collaboratively with team members, other stakeholders, users and suppliers • Be transparent and collaborative when making decisions • Have a no-blame culture and encourage people to learn from their mistakes • Take responsibility for their work • Share knowledge and experience with other team members with the intention of upskilling other team members • Challenging the status quo • Being comfortable with championing their discipline and UCD methodologies • Can work with clients with low technical expertise Assessment Method Interview Evaluation Weighting Technical competence 60% Cultural fit 20% Price 20% Questions from Suppliers 1.
