Tender description
Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) are undertaking a review of Health Professional Education and Training Services delivered to NHS Wales. HEIW are seeking to commission part time Practitioner Training Programme (PTP) Healthcare Science education for Clinical Engineering, Life Sciences and Audiology. Lot 1: Clinical Engineering Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is a key stakeholder in healthcare science transformation in Wales. Traditionally, individuals achieve Practitioner Training Programme (PTP) status through undertaking a BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science, full time over 3 years including both academic study and work-based learning. HEIW is committed to commission part time education to enable people already employed in clinical engineering, audiology and life sciences, to access a BSc programme alongside existing employment to achieve Practitioner Training Programme (PTP) status. This education is a type of apprenticeship model that will enable people to train whilst remaining in the workforce. The education that will be commissioned is 120 credits at level 5 and 120 credits at level 6 to enable award of BSc (Hons) over 3 years. Lot 1 – Clinical engineering Lot 2 – Life sciences Lot 3 - Audiology Life sciences education must also be available as stand alone modules to enable them to be accessed by Students with an existing relevant degree eg BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences to achieve PTP through degree assessment. The IBMS assess existing degree content and determine which additional modules from the full 240 credits a Student needs to complete.
