<p>Salford City Council, Trafford Council and Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council are responsible for all aspects of on-street parking on the public highway which means balancing different user needs and introducing regulations that aim to improve safety, manage traffic and reduce congestion. The Councils are also responsible for a number of off-street car parks, where tariff structures are designed to provide a balance between long and short stay parking, enabling a suitable turnover of spaces to help shoppers, traders and the wider community. Each Council is looking to appoint a contractor that is committed to delivering services that reflect the current and changing needs of each authority over the lifetime of the contract.
