IT Suite Refurbishment Project

Tender description

Coalville Library is in receipt of Section 106 monies. These need to be spent on projects that enhance the visitor experience at the library and cannot be spent on general maintennace or repair/upgrade projects. Following on site meetings and discussions it was agreed that a suitable project would be the upgrade of the exisiting IT suite so that the room could become a more versitile and multi functional space. It was therefore agreed that we would investigate the costs of specialist IT furniture that can multi task. When required the furniture would be used for IT purposes but at the press of a button the IT equipment could be hidden and secured so that the desks become flat topped therefore allowing the room to be used for a range of other purspose - meeting space, learning space etc. At the other end of the Library Building LALS have installed mutli use desks supplied by a company called Xioxi and are impressed by the desk, the ease of use, the quality and the versitility of the product. Xioxi were therefore approached to provide a quotation for the IT suite. As their quotation came in at more that £10,000 we have asked colleagues in CSU to obtain some further quotations on our behalf for comparable specialist IT furniture. A tender document was sent out to a number of suppliers. In addition to the Xioxi quote 5 other supliers responded. One supplier was discounted as the product they specified was completely unsuitable. Of the remaining 4 suppliers a company called Wagstaff Interiors offered the best value and also provided the longest warrenty. Following a site meeting to ensure that the measurements are correct we would like to proceed with placing an order with Wagstaff Interiors for the provision of the specialist IT equipment.
