Overall, 'Knowing the Heritage Sector' is about Historic England establishing for the first time the scale and nature of the sector of which we are part. Its goal is being addressed step-by-step , and this brief relates to the second step, taking forward initial work by The Audience Agency with MyCake. The project requires the use of computer-aided techniques to quantify the sector in the North of England using data from the Charities Commission and Companies House. It also requires the exploration of costs in anticipation of the next stage, which is intended to be a full national analysis. The project also requires some advice to be provided about options for maintaining a national dataset at an affordable cost.
