2549 - Design Services for CPI Coxon Building expansion to existing pharmaceutical laboratories

Tender description

CPI requires an Design Team to work with the team at CPI to develop an optimised design for expansion of the current research facility. This will include an extension into the courtyard between the National Formulation Centre and the National Centre for Healthcare Photonics, and a redesign of existing laboratory to make best use of the space available. The expected output is a detailed design plan ready to send to a building contractor combined with a cost and time estimate for the building works. CPI require a fully coordinated design team to provide architectural and engineering design services with expertise for pharmaceutical operations and functionality to i) Develop an optimised design of the Expansion of the current research facility, this will include an extension into the courtyard between the NFC and the NCHP, and a redesign of existing laboratory to make best use of the space available, typically around RIBA stage 3+ and to provide a design package as described in the deliverables below forming the basis for a tender package for a Build Contract (by others). The design package should be sufficiently detailed to obtain good quality, fixed price bids for the Build. ii) Develop the design information required to support the planning application and to coordinate with and support CPI’s Planning Consultant to ensure a coherent and successful planning application, throughout the pre-consultation, public consultation, final submission and approval. iii) Assist CPI in providing responses to relevant clarification requests from the planning authority (Durham County Council) and from bidders responding to the Invitation To Tender (ITT) for the Build Procurement.
