The provision of essential physician leadership for key aspects of Dublin Fire Brigade’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system including:System oversight;Coordination of guideline development; Planning for EMS care in the emergency environment; Identification and implementation of best practices; System quality improvement; Patient safety, education, and research; Provide clinical governance for delivery of fire-based EMS; Promote patient centred care and the advancement of EMS within Dublin Fire Brigade; Provide oversight for complaints, adverse incidents and system analysis reviews; Promote best practice in education and training; Engage with local and national stakeholders; Provide leadership in audit, research and quality improvement; Participate in national governance committees. The EMS medical director provides specialised medical oversight in the development and administration of the EMS system in DFB and is an essential liaison with DFB EMS Officers, Health Service Executive (HSE), National Ambulance Service (NAS), Hospitals, Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) and national professional accreditation organisations. The post is directly accountable to the Chief Fire Officer. The post holder will work largely autonomously within the parameters of Government priorities and policies.
