Summary of the work You will be responsible for low-level design and development of REST-APIs to support mobile applications. Responsible for writing Code following best practices: secure, performant, scalable, inline with the Department’s standards and well documented. The developer will be open to code reviews as well as reviewing their peer’s code. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 6 Months Latest start date Thursday 1 September 2022 Maximum Day Rate £550.00 Early Market Engagement N/A Who Speclialist Work With You will be working as part of an internal multidisciplinary Mobility product team and will have access to team members, both technical and non technical, and leadership. What Specialists Work On You will be working as part of an internal multidisciplinary Mobility product team helping to develop mobile apps improving user experience. The software engineer will be responsible for the low-level design and development of a number of REST APIs to support mobile applications as part of a DWP team. Skills & Experience • Must be able to develop REST APIs using NodeJS • Must be able to develop and consume relational databases using tools such as PostgreSQL and MySQL • Must be able to develop and consume NoSQL databases such as MongoDB • Quality and Security tested before deployment • Use strict content security policies and guard against common OWASP attacks. • Must be able to use Git • Must have experience developing REST APIs with NodeJS 16+ • Familiar with working with a CI/CD pipeline such as GitLab • Familiar with consuming onward REST APIs • Must have experience developing for a Microservices infrastructure • Continuous Integration using the central GitLab source control and CI Platform • Must be able to develop APIs to meet the needs of the service, process and data Nice to Haves • Familiar with building APIs that will be consumed by Mobile Apps • Experience with AWS Lambda (serverless funcitons) and AWS API gateway • Familiar with deployment to AWS infrastructure Work Location Manchester HUB 2 St Peter’s Square | Manchester - M2 3AA Working Arrangments Working arrangements will be a blend of remote working and working from the Manchester HUB site, you will spend roughly 40% of your time onsite and 60% at home. Person in this role will be expected to assure their delivery of work to ensure that it is of quality and defect free.
