Tender description

In order to construct the new extension a package of Enabling Works will need to be completed prior to the main works commencing. The proposed extension footprint is currently occupied and used as a temporary staff car park. The extension footprint also has numerous underground mechanical and electrical/comms/power installations crossing the proposed site. The enabling works contract for which this SAQ is being issued will be a phased PW-CF5 works contract. Initially a new 150 bay serviced TII specification car park is to be constructed at a separate location within the CGH campus to the Northeast of the proposed main works extension. The car park works will include all required surface water drainage, attenuation tank, site lighting, electrical power for vehicle charging points and comms/data for access control including a new automated entrance barrier. Once the new car park phase of works has been completed and handed over for use, Phase 2 of the enabling works can commence. The Phase 2 works will include but not be limited to the groundworks and mechanical/electrical installation works associated with the tracing and diverting of all existing services from within the proposed footprint of the main works extension. These services will need to be maintained 'live' throughout the works and therefore sub-phasing/micro-phasing of these works will be required. On completion of the services diversions that site will be left at a suitable O.D. level to allow the commencement of the Main Works Extension at a later stage in 2023. The proposed contract will be with a single main general works contractor with suitable experience and expertise in civils works generally, managing and coordinating complex below ground electrical, utilities and mechanical services diversions and experience of working within a live operational hospital campus.
