Award of Calibration of Omega Gauges (MS-P-0079)

Tender description

Marine Scotland invites bids for the calibration of Omega gauges. As part of its law enforcement duties, Marine Scotland Compliance is required to measure fishing nets and to do this use a measuring tool known as the Omega gauge. The requirements of this tool are set out in regulation EC 517, 2008 (retained EU law), in particular Annex II which sets out the technical specifications of the gauge. A link to the legislation is here: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/eur/2008/517/contents The Omega gauge takes measurements of mesh gauges to measure fishing nets and can automatically apply longitudinal forces in the range of 5 newtons to 180 newtons with an precision of 1 newton. It can apply a number of fixed measuring forces of 10, 20, 50 and 125 newtons. It measures nets within a range of 10 mm to 300 mm at an accuracy of 1 mm.
