For the Provision of a Microbiological Consultancy Service

This Expressions of Interest details the high-level requirements of the Microbiological Consultancy Service. The States of Guernsey is seeking to source a Consultant-delivered service for Clinical Microbiology, Virology and Infection Control advice to the Consultants and Clinical Staff relating to patients at any of the States of Guernsey Health and Social Care Departments and in Bailiwick General Practice. Please note, this list sets out the idealised top level service requirements. We are open to working with any supplier to determine definition on each of these points. 1. To provide Consultant-delivered Clinical, Infection Control, Public Health and pharmacy with Microbiology advice to Consultants, General Practitioners, Infection Control Nurses, pharmacists and Scientists by telephone and to be available at all times, on each day of the year, including weekends and public holidays. 2. To attend virtual meetings with specified meeting times, to support the Scientific Staff, Infection Control Staff and Pharmacy staff to interpret various Microbiology and Virology information. 3. Consultant or technical laboratory manager to provide ad-hoc advice by phone to HSC laboratory staff on methodologies and the appropriateness of clinical tests. 4. To provide access to an antibiotic policy (preferably available via MicroGuide) 5. Consultant or technical laboratory manager to provide ad-hoc advice by phone to Scientists in the implementation of test protocols. 6. Be available to provide advice if requested to Infection Control and Public Health Services on clusters or outbreaks of infection, and to contribute to the outbreak management, in person or by teleconference. Methods of communication and access to IT systems to be determined in consultation with provider. Please note that interested parties must ensure they are registered (or can arrange to be) to practice in Guernsey. For Consultant Services this will require being registered with the GMC.
