Local Biodiversity Action Plan and Forestry and Woodland Strategy Consultancy

Dumfries and Galloway council wish to understand the appetite for a consultancy service to complete a Local Biodiversity Action Plan (LBAP) and review and update an existing Forestry and Woodlands Strategy. Lot 1: Local Biodiversity Action Plan Dumfries and Galloway Council wish to appoint a consultant to undertake an update of the Dumfries and Galloway Local Biodiversity Action Plan: (https://www.dumgal.gov.uk/media/19945/Local-Biodiversity-Action-Plan/pdf/Local_Biodiversity_Action_Plan.pdf?m=636561914667330000) Reflecting the emerging new Scottish Biodiversity Strategy, National Planning Framework 4 and related national and regional contexts, the updated LBAP will help the Council, Biodiversity partners and our communities respond to the dual challenge of biodiversity loss and climate change. Consultants require a demonstrable working knowledge and understanding of the diverse ecosystems of Dumfries and Galloway through proactive involvement in conservation led projects in the region. Lot 2: Forestry and Woodland Strategy Consultancy Dumfries and Galloway Council wish to appoint a consultant to undertake an update of their Forestry and Woodland Strategy, adopted in 2014: (https://www.dumgal.gov.uk/media/17433/Dumfries-and-Galloway-Forestry-and-Woodland-Strategy/pdf/Forestry_and_Woodland_Strategy_April_FINAL1.pdf?m=635908797618200000) Reflecting Scotland’s Forestry Strategy 2019-2029, the Forest and Land Management Act (2018) and related national and regional contexts, the updated FWS will provide a framework for guiding forestry and woodland practice within Dumfries and Galloway over the next 10 years. The framework will look to optimise the benefits for the local economy, communities and the environment and support the response to the Council’s Climate Emergency Declaration, ensuring the regions natural resources are effectively managed.
