Tender description
The Authority seek to determine market potential and consider market views on the requirements with a view to ensure such views are considered for any potential procurement that the Authorities may wish to launch. No information contained in this RFI, or in any communication made between the Authorities and any Potential Provider in connection with this RFI, shall be relied upon as constituting a contract, agreement or representation that any procurement or contract may result from this RFI. Under no circumstances shall the Authorities incur any liability in respect of this RFI or any supporting documentation. The Authorities will not reimburse any costs incurred by Potential Providers in connection with preparation and submission of their responses to this RFI. The Strategic principles of development and approval are contained within the 'Code of Practice on Armed Policing and Police use of Less Lethal Weapons'. They confirm the Home Office and NPCC lead should monitor the continuing research into, and the development of, acceptable and effective less lethal weapon systems in response to an evolving operational requirement and capability gaps. As part of the continual development of the NPCC LLW strategy, this request for information aims to scope and identify innovative opportunities in next generation CED's that can be tested and introduced into UK Policing. This is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of CED's within UK Policing, maintain public confidence in CED technology and improve public and officer safety. This RFI is an information gathering exercise to support future direction and decision making in this area to establish future potential CED's and if suitable alternatives to current provisions are identified
