Tender description
Our local partnership wants Wirral to be a place where as few people as possible are affected by domestic abuse, but those who are can get help to end the abuse and go on to live the lives they want. We co-produced our vision, priorities and new strategy, Domestic Abuse- No Excuse, with 92 people who have lived-experience. In penning our strategy, we very deliberately addressed it to all people affected by domestic abuse, including perpetrators, children, young people, friends and family. This signals our partnership commitment to working holistically to achieve change for individuals, families, communities and the wider system. As our current service offer focuses on victims and their children, we are seeking to build capacity in our community offer for perpetrators, both adults and younger people. Using a twin-track approach that includes working with known perpetrators to change behaviour and address underlying issues, at the same time taking a broad approach to educating young people on healthy relationships to break cycles of domestic abuse. We will increase the availability of support by: • Rolling out an evidence-based programme for perpetrators of lower-level domestic abuse, an early help approach to complement our high-harm, high-risk programme • Providing participants with wrap-around support to address underlying issues • Taking a whole-family approach by ensuring that there is co-ordinated support in place for those identified as a key relation to the perpetrator • Through co-ordination of the programme, increase the uptake of support currently available through the partnership • Rolling out a healthy relationships programme as part of our Curriculum for Life • Using the healthy relationships programme directly with children of known perpetrators, giving them the opportunity for a safe educational experience • Rolling out an evidence-based programme for children who are violent towards their parents, with wrap around support for both parties that includes peer support
