<p>In December 2020, Worcester City Council was successful in obtaining &pound;17.9m of Future High Street Funding (FHSF) towards regeneration of the Blackfriars area of the City Centre from MHCLG. With match funding the total investment will be close to &pound;30m.</p> <p>The objective of the FHSF programme is to create a vibrant leisure and entertainment quarter adjacent to the high-quality primary retail core providing residents and visitors with an additional attraction and extending the City Centre&rsquo;s overall vibrancy. This will be delivered by transforming key buildings into new leisure and entertainment offers, transforming public realm and connectivity, and creating new event and other spaces.</p> <p>At its heart are proposals to transform the northern part of the city centre into a diverse leisure, cultural, entertainment and residential quarter.
