Tender description

The Fisheries and Aquatic Ecosystems Branch (FAEB) of the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) requires a hyperspectral imaging camera compatible with being mounted on an Unoccupied Aerial Vehicle (UAV). Hyperspectral imagery is useful for a large range of environmental monitoring applications from vegetation condition and classification to upscaling sample data from soils and vegetation-mapping. The variation in hyperspectral signature can be used to distinguish between different plant species as well as determining seasonal variation in biomass and plant health. As part of a programme of integrated environmental monitoring, biogeochemical and physiological measurements at specific points can be extrapolated to broader areas giving a better understanding of spatial variability and response to external pressures. The system will have application both for mapping cultivated and natural systems and will help assess changes due to climactic variability and direct anthropogenic action.
