INTRODUCTION We are looking to appoint a person(s) who can take on the day to day project management of the Council’s Economic Recovery Fund. This is a unique grant fund available to collaborations of businesses across the city, but largely in district centres, aimed at supporting economic recovery from the pandemic. The Economic Recovery Fund is a strand of the Council’s Business Recovery Plan. Background and Overview of the Project This project was born from a desire to support district and local centres recover from the worst economic impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic alongside a desire to work differently and collaboratively with local businesses. Its objectives are the following: • To support local economic recovery; helping our businesses and our retail and hospitality centres to rebuild and grow. • To help businesses open safely and remain viable – building resilience to future economic changes. • To protect jobs and businesses, particularly in hardest hit sectors. • To generate demand, to bring back customers and promote consumer confidence – encouraging people to shop locally and buy from Sheffield independents. These objectives were purposefully broad, to enable applicants to develop ideas that fit local circumstances and needs. The Council wanted to try a new approach – instead of leading with a narrow set of aims that would stifle local discussion, it rather aimed to work with and through people to collaborate openly and develop interventions that are right for each partnership and place.
