This training supports foster carers with learning ideas, skills and attitudes that form a therapeutic approach to foster care. This approach helps children who have had a difficult start in life and prevents and de-escalates troubling behaviour which could lead to placement breakdowns. this Smartform will be created as a drawdown for £4999 The training helps carers: Understand the effect on the brain and behaviour of a child of suffering trauma or childhood adversity. Learn to keep calm, understand the reason behind a child’s behaviour, and adopt a calming, therapeutic approach. Learn how to show understanding and empathy through using a range of active listening techniques. Develop ideas and make a plan to prevent troubling behaviour. Be able to calm a child who is agitated, aggressive or violent. Help a child learn to manage strong feelings and destructive behaviour.
