River Ara Walkway Project Tipperary town

Tender description

This development will include a walkway along the River Ara, which will also include enhancement and clearing works along its embankment and the creation of a variety of associated habitat and amenity features. The main purpose of this work is to appropriately enhance the overall environmental condition of the site, optimising its location for amenity and education. The tarred walkway located parallel with the existing river channel will connect to the existing path near Glenview. The development will include an off-stream wetland and boardwalk through the wetland, in-stream rubble mats and deflectors, landscaping, a children’s playground and community event area, providing visitors unique visual access to the local natural environment. Appropriate fencing and hedging along the adjacent school boundary, landscaping, with appropriate vegetation including trees, will further enhance the biodiversity, recreational, social and aesthetic value of the development area. The main elements of the River Ara Walkway project are as follows: • Installation of 800m walkway at lands adjacent to the River Ara, • Provide seating areas along the walk for users to rest and enjoy the natural beauty, • Provide natural playground, • Provide outdoor classroom area, • Protection and enhancement of natural wetland, • Biodiversity Awareness Development, • Installation of appropriate fencing, landscaping and planting.
