Details

Submission

Tender description

The purpose of this exercise is to provide a steer for where policy and practice should be focused to better allow the incorporation of new large-scale sustainable urban tree planting, when the opportunity arises during new developments, therefore informing any future framework for action. The study will provide the evidence and rationale to demonstrate where the greatest opportunities exist and best practice examples, which, therefore, will ultimately enable decisions on where interventions and investment would most effectively be targeted to deliver not just climate change mitigation and adaptation but also ecological and societal benefits. The study will also enable a consistent approach nationwide to inform future long-term planning for and provide increased influence to Local Planning Authorities to support an expansion of urban tree cover and the aspiration for ‘tree-lined streets’.
Keywords: trees, sustainable, tree planting
