Tender description

The Bangor Imaging Cerebral Physiology (BICP) lab is involved in research into the brain’s response to hypoxia and other environmental challenges. BICP has been awarded internal funding to enhance its’ imaging and measurement capabilities. The BICP therefore is looking to procure a robust and complementary set of equipment to extend its’ research from healthy young participants to patient cohorts. Lot 1: Portable functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) system The purchase of a portable and MRI compatible fNIRS device, which will provide a measure of regional cerebral physiology and blood flow that can be collected both in the Bangor MRI scanner, and in an environmental chamber. The device will also allow a range of other research avenues - neurofeedback experiments to improve task-based efficiency, monitoring of cerebral responses in pharmaco-physiology studies, and monitoring functional changes in occupational rehabilitation after acquired brain injury, or in Parkinson’s disease, that will benefit the wider research community of the BICP in the School of Human and Behavioural Sciences Lot 2: An MRI compatible Ergometer to allow measurements of cerebral physiology under exertion Purchase of equipment that will allow rigorous monitoring and control of physiologic variables, such as blood gases, levels of exertion, and changes in blood pressure and heart rate to complement the fNIRS.
