Engineering Led Multi-Disciplinary Design Consultancy Services for Phases 5 to 7 for Wolfe Tone Pedestrian Bridge II

Tender description

Galway City Council has applied for planning permission under a Part 8 application for a proposed cantilever pedestrian bridge to the south of the existing Wolfe Tone Bridge. The works included; a) a 50m steel cantilever frame forming a walkway on the southern elevation of the Wolfe Tone Bridge (R336) over the River Corrib b) Widening 60m section of the southern footpath on the Wolfe Tone Bridge (R336) along the Claddagh Basin with junction tightening of the R336 and L-5061. c) New signalised rainbow pride crossing on the eastern approach of the Wolfe Tone Bridge (R336) d) Associated works such as signage, lighting, utilities, road marking etc. Wolfe Tone Bridge is a Protected Structure (Record of Protected Structures Ref. No. 8501). Wolfe Tone Bridge is located on the boundary of the Galway City Core Architectural Conservation Area. Works to the eastern abutment and quay walls fall within the Galway City Core Architectural Conservation Area. This project is being funded by the National Transport Authority and therefore the project is being delivered through the NTA Project Approval Guidelines. In 2020, Galway City Council appointed Ryan Hanley Consulting Engineers as the engineering consultants for the project. Ryan Hanley has delivered the project through the following stages;  Phase 1 “Scope and Purpose”,  Phase 2 “Concept Development and Option Section”  Phase 3 “Preliminary Design”  Phase 4 “Statutory Process” This request for tender is to appoint a multi discipline engineering team to complete the following project phases for the proposed Wolfe Tone Pedestrian Bridge II under the NTA Project Approval Guidelines;  Phase 5 “Detailed Design & Procurement”  Phase 6 “Construction & Implementation”  Phase 7 “Close-out and Review” The design team will require the following expertise; 1. Project Manager/Employer’s Representative 2. Structural Engineer 3. Ecologist 4. Architect 5.
