Anglian Water Services (hereafter AWS) are seeking to enter into a PPA framework with a number of renewable energy generation counterparties, with the aim of running mini competitions for defined volumes of power on our journey to net zero carbon. AWS currently import >600GWh of electricity from the grid, and this framework will support our ambitions to be 45% renewable by 2025, and 100% by 2030. Our intention is utilise this framework to bring significant volumes of power into our supply mix from October 2023. Please note the intention is to open the RFI event as soon as possible. The date listed in this PIN for the contract notice (02/01/23) is indicative. Please regularly check our public Scanmarket page for the event and/or FTS for a contract notice. The events will not be listed on our public page on Scanmarket until the RFI is opened and a contract notice has been published. Lot 1: AWS is seeking to enter into a PPA framework with a number of renewable energy generation counterparties. AWS will purchase the power generated by the winning bidders' renewable facilities (or an agreed percentage of the power generated reflecting AWS' power requirements (e.g. 150-200 GWh per annum)) for the duration of the supply period (e.g. >10 years) as well as the associated environmental attributes and benefits (i.e. REGO's). The contract structure for the mini competitions has not been prescribed at this stage, however, it could be a physical sleeved PPA or a virtual PPA structure. The renewable energy generation counterparty will also procure balancing and shaping services and include as part of their PPA offering. The balancing and shaping service might be for all of a PPA term or part of and will be agreed ahead of each mini competition. The counterparties offering the balancing and shaping services shall hold a GTMA (Grid Trade Master Agreement) with AWS's utility supplier (currently SSE, or such other licensed supplier that AWS may appoint from time to time) in order to facilitate a seamless sleeve of baseload power into AWS import hedging structure.
