SMART Planning, Sustainability and Climate Action Training for South Tipperary

South Tipperary Development CLG wants to advance knowledge and practice within individuals and communities in their catchment area in terms of Climate Action and Sustainable Development. We wish to implement a capacity building programme focusing on communities in South Tipperary to enhance their knowledge, understanding and confidence and unlock their collective power and potential to confront the economic and social challenges of transitioning to a carbon neutral and resilient society. To do this, we wish to engage suitably qualified personnel to deliver three related training programmes on these topics. These programmes should be designed, not just to enhance knowledge and awareness but to generate practical and co-ordinated actions, ideally at community level. We seek an appropriate blend of online and in person training and support elements to provide for increased knowledge, sharing of ideas and knowledge exchange, exploration of community opportunities, leveraging finance, energy efficiency opportunities, biodiversity enhancement, drawing synergies between communities and building collaborations and partnerships. This aims to build capacity within communities across the county to drive their own sustainable future, economically, socially, culturally, and environmentally. This training should build links with existing likeminded projects and programmes locally and nationally. The programme will support the transformation of community ideas, insights and actions into practical projects and realities. Such potential projects may be fundable via LEADER or other funding sources. Tenderers may quote for one, two or all three of the programmes / lots. A synergistic approach to programme delivery would be welcomed. Lot 247403: SMART/ Sustainable Villages Plans To provide training for 3 communities in South Tipperary (at least one per Municipal District) to enable them to develop a local plan for their area (village, cluster of villages, small town) which incorporates best practice in SMART Village planning and Environmental / Sustainability practices. SMART Village Training for Rural Communities should be grounded on the emerging goals, methods/ approaches from the European Union’s SMART Villages concept. Lot 247404: Community Climate Action Training To provide training across South Tipperary on overall sustainability issues and the mitigation measures that can be introduced into communities, or by themselves as individuals, in their homes, workspaces etc. Ideally participants will be active in their local community, eg Tidy Towns groups, Community Councils, Tús, RSS, CE staff etc. Lot 247405: Community Local Biodiversity Training To provide training to enable participants to develop knowledge and understanding of a range of biodiverse habitats that hold ecological value, their flora and fauna, the challenges they face and actions which can be taken to preserve and enhance them. Sample habitats would be wetland, rivers, forests, hedgerows, bogland, open mountain, meadows etc.
