Respiratory Care Clinics in Drug and Alcohol Treatment Hubs

Tender description

This funding will support the local delivery of the Government’s national Project ADDER (Addiction, Diversion, Disruption, Enforcement and Recovery)/Accelerator grant funding programme for Drug Treatment and Recovery. The overarching outcomes for this funding are to: reduce drug related deaths, reduce drug related offending and reduction in drug related prevalence. This funding is being provided to Wirral as part of a national programme instigated by the Government and must be spent in accordance with the grant requirements. Any unspent funds would need to be returned. There is a high level of poor respiratory health among the long term drug using population and this is contributing to a higher than average number of deaths among this group. This service is taking the specialist community respiratory care team at Wirral Hospital University Trust (WUTH) into the drug and alcohol treatment hubs to test, diagnose and commence treatment with this group with the aim of improving lung health and reducing premature death.
