Managed Service - Climate Action Plan

There is a requirement for a managed service to deliver a Climate Action Plan for Loughs Agency. Delivery of a comprehensive Climate Action Plan is required in order to underpin all of the Agency’s activities until 2030 and beyond. The Climate Action Plan will set out how the Agency responds to climate change both operationally and culturally and will allow the Agency to meaningfully contribute to jurisdictional targets on climate action. In order for the Agency to play its part in achieving carbon emission reductions in both jurisdictions there is a need for the creation of a robust Climate Action Plan. The Agency’s Climate Action Plan must set emissions reduction goals which are measurable and time-bound whilst taking into account financial constraints and opportunities. The creation of Loughs Agency’s Climate Action Plan must include an audit of the Agency’s current activities and emissions. The first step in creating a climate action strategy for the Agency involves the need for a comprehensive audit of the Agency’s current activities and emissions in order to understand vulnerabilities and set achievable, targeted goals for mitigation and adaptation. Undertaking an initial audit will identify areas that the Agency can benchmark against; at this stage a metric to offset must also be included. Once a baseline of the Agency’s activities and emissions is established, a Climate Action Plan for the Agency must be established. The Climate Action Plan must set out incremental steps for the Agency to demonstrate best practice and future proof changes. Based out the outcomes of the baseline survey the Climate Action Plan will target areas such as; Energy Efficiency, Transport Sustainability, Sustainable Asset and Resource procurement and disposal, Drought Resilience, Additional Nature Based Solutions (over and above work done under core responsibility) and Education and Outreach.
