Tender description

The Council had a requirement to replace the loss of grass pitches on the former Stonebridge Cross site to comply with planning obligations with the support from Sport England. The replacement pitches and new changing pavilion have been provided at Carr Lane. However, the final phase of works to construct a new car park have been delayed due to a number of factors e.g. Covid and establishing a new Highways Framework. Presently, a procurement exercise is underway to appoint a suitable contractor to undertake the car park works together with additional works to form a new vehicle access at the Jeffrey Humble Parklife site and minor highways works to the Simpson Ground Parklife site. Aggregating these works together provides economies of scale and best value to the council. Kier Design & Business Services have been engaged to provide design and technical specifications and project management for the works. The fees associated with these works are split across the three individual capital cost codes and expenditure can be contained within the approved leisure capital programme 22/23.
