Award of Contract - East Lothian Council’s Education Services require a qualified and experienced service provider to provide visual assessment support, advice and services to pupils, parents (carers) and staff at East Lothian schools. East Lothian Council Education Services requires a qualified and experienced service provider to support learners with a visual impairment through outreach education and habilitation services between the ages of 0 to 18 years. Supporting all East Lothian schools/families with: 1:1 direct teaching including the use of braille; habilitation services; supporting families, particularly for the 0-3 cohort; facilitating staff development and training; supporting the use of assistive technologies and other resources; assessment, planning and reporting; and contributing wholly to East Lothian’s Child’s Planning Framework and Accessibility Strategy. Specifically for East Lothian Children and Young People, this service means a 0 to 18 provision with Qualified Teacher of Children and Young People with Vision Impairment (QTVI) input direct to pupils in schools, where required and the training and upskilling of school staff. A variety of technology including iPads and braille equipment is to be provided together with adapted resources including large print and braille. The mobility assessment and programs provided are crucial to allow pupils to travel to/from and move around school independently with appropriate aids. This involves intensive support for pupils particularly at times of transition.
