Provision of archaeological services for the delivery of the Sligo Community Archaeology Project 2022

Tender description

Sligo County Council in partnership with The Heritage Council invites responses to this brief which seeks to provide archaeological services for the delivery of the Sligo Community Archaeology Project in 2022. This project is an action of the County Sligo Heritage Plan and is funded by The Heritage Council in partnership with Sligo County Council. Overview of services will include, but will not be limited to:  Promoting awareness, knowledge and understanding of our archaeological heritage amongst groups and individuals in the county in partnership with the County Sligo Heritage Office.  Providing specialist advice and promoting best heritage practice in relation to researching and conserving archaeological monuments in County Sligo.  Liaising with selected community groups to support their capacity to avail of funding opportunities for the conservation, management and promotion of archaeological heritage sites.  Working with local communities to encourage best practice in the interpretation and promotion of archaeological heritage sites.  Working with the Infrastructure Directorate of Sligo County Council and Sligo Leader to develop appropriate management protocols for the management of historic graveyards in the ownership of Sligo County Council in consultation with local communities.  Delivering a series of on-line presentations to guide local communities to undertake archaeological heritage research/local initiatives.  Delivering an in-house archaeological training session for Sligo County Council staff.  Continuing to build on the strategic approach to community archaeology in County Sligo in consultation with key stakeholders and community groups.  Supporting existing and prospective Adopt a Monument scheme participants in County Sligo.  Communicating and engaging with the public re the SCAP through various media platforms (print, social media, radio, TV).
