FFCP New Entrants Pilots

As part of the Future Farming Programme, there is a commitment to develop a scheme to support new entrants to come into the farming sector. The New Entrants Support Pilots will inform an overarching project by trialling different models for developing entrepreneurial capability of prospective new entrants and for supporting them to pitch for land and finance. The objectives of the project are to pilot learning and development support to a target group of new entrants in the start-up and progression phases and to test the best means of building their entrepreneurial capability and creating opportunities for them to compete effectively for access to land and finance. The pilots will trial a variety of new entrant incubator support services which provide learning and development suited to a diversity of new entrant skills and experience, and interaction with land and finance providers, with the clear aim of enabling thriving, entrepreneurial land-based businesses (including agroforestry). A process, impact, and value for money evaluation will be carried out on the pilot, looking to assess different incubator models, and will be evaluated to assess whether the intervention(s) would be effective and provide good value for taxpayers’ money if scaled up.
