CP2101-21A Artistic Parapet Designs for the South West Exeter Pedestrian Bridge

Devon County Council (DCC), Engineering Design Group (EDG) has been given the brief to deliver a new pedestrian and cycle bridge to cross the A379 to the Southwest of Exeter. The bridge has been designed to create a ‘unique’ structure with an enhanced aesthetic and high-quality appearance which underpins the key focus of the design ethos of the structure. This Procurement was arranged to appoint one artist to complete the full number of artistic designs for panels of the bridge to allow these to be fabricated and enhance the appearance of the landmark structure. To aid the creation of artistic designs, a design brief had been prepared and released. DCC offered the opportunity to one artist to develop panel designs and work with us to agree the designs with the local planning officers prior to commencing construction. These designs will then be issued to the contractor, who will arrange for the panels to be fabricated. There is a specification for the artistic parapet designs and the award criteria comprised of preliminary designs. Devon County Council hosted a virtual Tender Launch Event via Microsoft Teams. This was an opportunity to discuss the service provision, ask questions, and help bidders navigate around this documentation and the procurement process.
