Chartered Town Planner (degree) level 7 apprenticeship

To provider the Chartered Town Planner Master's Degree over 60 months from September 2022 for level 4 entrants and 24 months for level 7 entry. This is an upskilling opportunity for an area of the business that has hard to recruit and retain members of staff. In order to meet the growing needs of an already busy department and to future proof the department trained staff are essential. This is a requirement for 6 learners. As a level 7 qualification and due to the technical nature of the standard this is only deliverable by universities. Currently there only 5 providers rated as excellent or good and only 3 within an easily commutable distance taking into account public transport connections/costs on the government register of approved training providers. Within those Universities, the renowned UCL (Bartlett School), Uni of westminster & London Southbank University. Of the final three only one of the universities can deliver at entry level (level 4) right through to post grad which means that we can offer to potentially candidates at different levels in their learning/career and thus giving us a more diverse pool of learners. The dept are also keen to offer opportunities to those who are in less affluent parts of the borough and this provider will allow us that opportuntity. The provider is rated as Good by OFsted for both overall uni delivery and Apprenticeship delivery. QAA also reports favourably with regard to the Uni's ability to deliver the courses they offer. LSBU also offer Urban Design pathway at level 7 in addition to the standard Charetered Town Planner. L4 learners (entry point 1) can achieve PG Dip in Town Planner, L7 learners (Entry point 2) can achieve MA Chartered Town Planner or MA Chartered Town Planner (Urban Design). LSBU is also part of the Mayor's Construction Academy, which aims to intensify local collaboration between SMEs and Skills training providers, they also promote females working in the construction sector and promoting apprenticeships. Retention rates of LSBU are also impressive at 92-95%. Keywords: Exception
