RFT for the Supply of Innovation Project Management Services for BIM's Seafood Innovation Hub

Tender description

The primary purpose of this Tender is to procure innovation project management support services to be provided to BIM’s Seafood Innovation Hub in Clonakilty, Co Cork. Innovation project management support services are required to work closely with BIM’s Seafood Innovation Hub through specific BIM strategic projects for industry good and client lead projects in supporting their specific commercial development. The overall purpose of Innovation in Irish Seafood is to embed and promote the widespread use of innovation methodologies developed specifically for seafood by BIM (or additional approaches or methodologies that emerge) to drive commercial growth across the sector in the quickest and most efficient way possible. This is undertaken through the development and continued re-engineering of the innovation processes and standards utilising a standardised approach. This innovation approach will aim to reduce the level of commodity and build the seafood sectors added value business across the supply chain and to build the industry’s innovation capability. Seafood companies although aware of the importance of innovation, have limited organization and resource capacities, including project management, to deliver on a strategic vision required. Further difficulties for the development and implementation of innovation occur when firms have problems with allocation and coordination of resources and collection of relevant information and knowledge. Unsuccessful innovation may be worse than no innovation at all, it is an expensive undertaking, and more than 90% of new products in the food and drinks industries are reputed to fail in their first year. Fear of failed innovation can be an inhibiting factor in the SME’s willingness to innovate.
