Tender description
Dock Branch Park Phase 1 is the regeneration Scheme in Birkenhead for the regeneration of the disused railway line which runs through Birkenhead, into a green transport route and museum. Phase 2 of the regeneration plans also includes acquiring and redeveloping the adjacent land currently industrial use in private ownership into residential units. Smith and Sons Surveyors based in Birkenhead were appointed in April to carry out valuations of building adjacent to Dock Branch Park and Hind Street to enable funding bids to be prepared, the fee agreed was £4,950. Phase 1 of Dock Branch Park includes building a new museum and there are a few pieces of land currently in private ownership which the Council needs to acquire to be able to progress the scheme. Smith and sons have already undertaken a valuation exercise, but we are wanting to appoint Smith and Sons to negotiate the purchase of a number of plots on the Council’s behalf. They are a locally based firm of Surveyors in Birkenhead with extensive local knowledge and contacts and, having already undertaken a significant amount of valuation work, would be best placed to negotiate the acquisition of the properties. They have already carried out the valuations for these properties, but the £5,000 threshold has been reached. The fee would be 1% of the acquisition price plus fees. The fee is less than other firms have quoted for alternative acquisitions.
