Tender description

<p>The Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 governs the issue and control of licences for private hire and hackney carriage vehicles, drivers and operators. Section 50(1) of the Act permits the Authority to require licensees to submit their vehicles for inspection on no more than 3 occasions during any twelve-month period.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The council has a responsibility to ensure the safety of the public who are conveyed in licensed Private Hire and Hackney Carriage vehicles; this work is carried out by nominated contractors between one and three times per year, depending on age of vehicle, accident damage etc.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Buckinghamshire Council is seeking to establish an Approved Provider Contract with garages with qualified and experienced vehicle engineers to undertake the testing and examining of all vehicles intended to be licensed or already licensed by the Council.
